OIL RINSE: DAY 1 (AGAIN)

Sigh! How many times do you see me say "Day 1?" Okay, yea, a lot right? Well this time I am sticking to it. I promise. I want for next summer to be the summer I let all my hair down to my waist and swing it back and forth. Tonight I am doing an oil rinse combined with two eggs for protein. Right now my hair is lacking shine as you can see below, and also these strands are so dry that it seems as if every drop of oil I put on my scalp is sucked up upon impact. So what I did is whipped up two eggs, put more than enough coconut oil into the whipped egg.  I parted my hair into two sections. And started applying from the back first, since that is the area that mostly rubs against my clothing. Make sure you are wearing a shirt that you do not wear outside as the oil may drip or slide down the neck, face area. After applying to the whole head, I waited for approximately 45 minutes with bantu buns.  I washed out in the shower, shampooed, then used regul...

CELEBRITY SUNDAY: ANGELA SIMMONS

Angela Simmons, celebrity socialite, is known to rock some nice extensions, but did you know how truly beautiful her real hair is. I'm talking about the real natural hair that almost reaches her hips? Well in case you did not know, she gladly shows off her beautiful strands on Instagram.  And just a side note....I do not believe she took hairfinity all this time.

WEAVED OUT WEDNESDAYS: W.O.W

I know I'm always talking about natural hair this, or real hair that, so now we have a "Weaved Out Wednesday" known as W.O.W. for all the girls who love good extensions. I remember the days I used to wear weaves or extensions for weeks at a time. Nothing wrong with them as long as you are taking care of your hair while in your install. My sew-in choice of the week is the layered weave. Ohh I just love it. Take a look at the pictures below to see what I am talking about. You would want it too. It just has a realistic flow about it. Now I just have to figure out the braid pattern.

TWISTED TUESDAY: TWISTS GALORE

So now we are through with "Messy Mondays," we are entering into Twisted Tuesday. I love seeing women on TV with twist-outs, braid-outs, or their natural coils to be viewed by millions. On Tuesday nights, after work, I normally watch The Haves and the Have Nots but since that is no longer on until 2015, I began watching If Loving You is Wrong... Let me tell you, if you are not watching, you are definitely missing out. Drama Galore.  Now for twisted Tuesdays, I want to announce a coily sister, who stars in If Loving You is Wrong... Meet April Parker-Jones, a natural hair beauty. Take a look at her beautiful coils. April Parker-Jones is our Twisted Tuesday Feature.  If Loving You is Wrong comes on OWN on Tuesday nights at 9pm ET

HAIR PREP + RESULTS

I started the week off with a fresh wash and deep conditioning treatment and boy does my hair feel great. Earlier today (Monday), I did not do anything with my hair at all. Okay, well I prepped my hair for a braid out tomorrow. I plan to have my braid-out turn out something like the image below. I want a nice, chunky braid-out like so. So in order to achieve this look, I decided to use Elasta QP Olive Oil and Mango Curling Butter . I also oiled my scalp with a homemade oil mix, and boy did it satisfy my scalp.  To begin, I brushed out my hair, separated into a top half and a bottom half to prepare to do a braid-out. Next I parted my hair and started plaiting my hair, not braiding. I put in several plaints and this is my result. Hopefully tomorrow my result turns out beautifully chunky. I will return later with results. Also look out for "Twisted Tuesdays" post today.  ETA: Pics My results, ignore the close up shot, but hey, it is the best ...

MESSY MONDAY

Time for a reality check. Most of the world is fascinated with Reality television, mostly on Monday Prime-time. Well I thought it would be a great idea to give you some reality TV on my blog. Since today is the premiere of Tiny & Shekinah's Weave Trip , how about we talk about that. Tiny & Shekinah's Weave Trip is a spin-off from Tiny and T.I's reality show, Family Hustle , a show giving you an inside look of how it is inside the doors of a hip-hop family. I actually love the show simply because T.I shows you can be cool among the industry and still have fun at home. Tiny demonstrates how it is to handle a family hands-on. Tiny & Shekinah's Weave Trip begins tonight with eight episodes for it's first season. This show will show Tiny and her hair-stylist best girlfriend, Skekinah, traveling across the country to promote their new mobile hair salon business. Creative if you ask me. If you know the relationship between these two home girls, you know ...

UPGRADED HAIR ROUTINE

This is a sure plan for optimum growth before the end of the year. There is exactly two and half months left before the year ends. I plan to achieve at least three inches in that time, so I came up with a "routine" to keep me on track. Take a peek below. Keep in mind, I always do my hair at night-time.  Sunday: Wash day. Today is the day I wash away all of the weeks worth of buildup. I will first shampoo thoroughly with V05 Moisturizing Shampoo Next I will use Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol Deep Conditioning Creme for 20 minutes while I shower. Blot dry hair and let hair air-dry. Oil Scalp with Mega-growth Hair Oil Style for the week as desired. Monday/Friday:  If I decide to flat iron my hair, I will use a heat protectant serum. If I decide to wear my hair natural, I will run a nickel size amount of oil through my hair, and either co-wash, bottle spray, or pin hair up Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday: Preserve hair from previous day.  Oil Scalp D...

WHERE TO NOW

So, as you know, I cut off my hair last month. So far it is growing back nice and quickly. I am making sure that I deep condition these strands at least once a week. I have only straightened my  hair once and it looked amazing. I received so many compliments about how healthy my hair looks, and how shiny it is. Therefore, I think that the cut was needed. I do however miss the length.  My route now is uncertain. I want to install a weave, then I change my mind to braids, then again I change it to just wearing it in it's natural state. Sigh* So many options. Any ideas? My birthday is next month so I may settle for the weave until the end of the year? Good idea or bad? Either way, I will keep you posted.

NO HEAT STYLES

Well I guess I will be going with no heat until the end of the year. What would be the point of me cutting off the heat damage if I am going to do the same thing that got me there, right? So a few no heat styles that I found are very cute. I cannot wait to try them for myself. I will doing a growth journey all over so look out for new posts weekly on what I am doing to my hair. New styles, new products, and do&dont's that work for me. Ciao

IT'S GONE...BYE BYE DAMAGE

I finally cut off the heat damage. Okay, well I actually been plotting on getting a haircut for a few months now. Something different. I am now neck length. I didn't do a proper length check yet since I just randomly cut it off tonight. But here are a few pictures. Who is ready to regrow with me?

CELEBRITY HAIR VIXEN: ALYSIA ROGERS

Wedge: Damita! I thought you were gonna play with MY frog? Damita: Your frog ain't jumpin' in my direction! Damita: There's a new tadpole in town.           Who remembers the classic movie Class Act  from 1992? I may have been young at the time but I still remember I was too happy to see a dark skin black woman portrayed as the object of interest in the movie. More importantly, I loved the way the actress, Alysia Rogers, who played the role of Damita, always had her hair in fresh, feathered, bang to the side, straight from the salon in your momma's kitchen, curling ironed straight hair.  Her hair was so thick and beautiful back then that I had to see how she (and her hair) are holding up these days. To my surprise, Alysia Rogers is still beautiful, and still has even more beautiful hair. I'm talking about long, healthy, locks of hair that I would love to play with. According to Alysia's social media page, she is 100% natural but wears he...

WHERE HAVE I BEEN FOR TWO MONTHS??? HMM

Sigh* Okay, before you begin to say how you knew I was going to disappear yet again, this time I have a good reason.... Okay, well I don't actually but it sounded like a good start to win you back over. For the past two months I have actually been writing, doing homework, working, and traveling between states to be with family. My hair has been through hell and back. Like through the fire (flat iron) three times this summer. I know this was to be a heat-free summer but I couldn't go out looking rough. Please understand. I am back however. And I am back through Instagram. That is a great way for you to keep in touch, follow my hair, and see what else I am talking about. So join me here  INSTAGRAM . I am officially back to posting daily, or weekly. Not sure yet. Depends on my work schedule, but look out for new posts starting tomorrow. Ciao

DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS

Today is June 29th, a Sunday, so i did not do anything to my hair as of yet except washed, deep conditioned, conditioned, and oiled my scalp because it was severely dry that I had no choice. Now I am sitting here with big hair that is thrown back into a ponytail, and no idea what to do with it. (See image below) Any help anyone? Times like these are what leads me to flat ironing. Sigh. I know, I know, I am still sticking to the "No (Summer) Heat Challenge." I pray this brings me some growth, retention, and thickness to these strands. Now I am stuck as to what to do with my hair for this week. I really love the results that I got by wearing two buns overnight. The pictures below are all no heat styled curls. So what should I do with my hair for tomorrow at least? Should I bun it? Braid out? Twist out? Bun-out? Bantu Knot out? What? I do know that I am not doing a Wash N Go, because it just like "Oh Hell No" every time I try it. I t...
