OIL RINSE ONCE AGAIN FOR DRY-BRITTLE HAIR

Back to the original content of this blog, HAIR TALK. Lately I have been so chill with my hair that it actually just look like a pile of strands sitting on my head. I really haven't done anything to my hair in about a week other than wash it a few times. So today, I decided to give it a treatment and a proper trim. I had a hard time deciding on which treatment I wanted to give this mane. Tonight, I decided to give my my hair back its shine and the look of fullness so I went with the classic old oil rinse. Prior to the oil rinse, my hair looked a hot mess. So dry that it could break off easily. I mean it also could have been because I have been so tired of doing my hair lately that I honestly have been neglecting it, which is never a good thing. Before: So what I did was mix a tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) and Safflower Oil. I then separated my hair into four sections and then applied the oil through the scalp to the ends as if I was shingling my hair. I then pu...

BENEFITS OF GIVING YOUR A HAIR A BREAK

I know as a woman, one of the most important aspect in our lives revolves around our hair. I mean, I do so much with my hair that I am sure it would ask me to leave it alone indefinitely if the strands could speak. I mean I twirl it, flip it, twist it, braid it, un-braid it, straighten it, wash it out then restraighten, cowash, oil rinse, bun it, don't like the bun so un-bun it, I mean, the struggle is real to keep my hands out of this mane of mine.  Well I discovered that if I leave these strands alone, they will do what they are supposed to to regardless, which is grow in healthy. As you recall, back in early fall, I cut my hair to neck length. It took only a few months for it to grow back to the originally length and just think right now I am, I am scraping my bra once again. I mean I literally did NOTHING with my hair besides for wash once a week, possibly every two weeks depending on my mood, deep conditioned regularly, limited heat use to once a month, and wore my hair eit...

UPGRADED HAIR ROUTINE

This is a sure plan for optimum growth before the end of the year. There is exactly two and half months left before the year ends. I plan to achieve at least three inches in that time, so I came up with a "routine" to keep me on track. Take a peek below. Keep in mind, I always do my hair at night-time.  Sunday: Wash day. Today is the day I wash away all of the weeks worth of buildup. I will first shampoo thoroughly with V05 Moisturizing Shampoo Next I will use Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol Deep Conditioning Creme for 20 minutes while I shower. Blot dry hair and let hair air-dry. Oil Scalp with Mega-growth Hair Oil Style for the week as desired. Monday/Friday:  If I decide to flat iron my hair, I will use a heat protectant serum. If I decide to wear my hair natural, I will run a nickel size amount of oil through my hair, and either co-wash, bottle spray, or pin hair up Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday: Preserve hair from previous day.  Oil Scalp D...

DAYS ONE TO FIVE: NO HEAT CHALLENGE

I love taking pictures of different hairstyles I do. And just like last time with this challenge, I will document many different styles I create. So far for days one through five, I washed my hair, deep conditioned it, and wore a bun for the first three days. For the last two days, I wore a braid out. Nothing spectacular but a lot of my patients loved the big hair. This is my hair with no product after a fresh wash: This is a reverse bun that I did. I loved how big and full it was. I received many compliments on it. And the braid out I have wore yesterday.  Tonight, I may cowash, and wear a big bun or wear a nice wash and go to one side, or I may try to find someway to preserve this braidout. Either way, I will snap a few pictures. I fought so hard not to use the flat iron on Monday. Lol

MANAGING SUMMER HAIR

Personally, it is too hot to be wearing all this added hair in the summer. With my natural BSL hair, I find it easy to just wash-n-go with a bun tuck, or a french braid down the middle. I even just rock a high banana clip so my hair will not bother me. Usually I wear my personalized "spanish" bun when I'm tired. I mean I literally get so tired of this hair that I am so tempted to grab the scissors and cut it all off. But that would be stupid. So as of this summer, I find it simple to just wear box braids up into a high ponytail. That way my hair is still protected (with moisture rituals, and conditioning treatments) as well as not bothering me in this heat. If you are one who is not into wearing box braids, and such, try going for the all natural wash-n-go look: Credit: Essence.com or a high bun credit:  easynaturalhair.com or try styles using banana clips. These are a few I have that have kept me cool during the heat Regardless ...
