BIOTIN: THE GROWTH SECRET

With all of the "grow your hair faster with this..." products that are out on the market, it is hard to decide on just one product that works for you. Of course there is always "trial and error" to assist you in finding the secret "growth aid" for your hair, but haven't you noticed most of the products contain the one ingredient needed to promote hair growth? Biotin Biotin or Vitamin H is needed for cell growth. Although there is no scientific PROOF that Biotin aids in faster hair growth, there is no denying that fact that it is indeed a growth aid for skin reproduction and nails. Believe it or not, nails and hair are made from the same protein (learned that in Biology class, hehe), so if Biotin increases cell growth in nails and skin, they as a bonus, hair growth accelerates as well.  Take a look at the current hair growth aids that are popular today (i.e: Hairfinity, Hair, Skin & Nails), most likely, they contain Biotin as the active ingr...

ROLLER-SET ON NATURAL HAIR

For the first time in my life I did a roller-set on my hair. The results were fantastic, better than I expected. When I say everyone loved them, I mean everyone including the post man. You all know how I change my hair like the the weather, so it was a last minute decision to actually use the rollers that I had in the stash for the past year. Well actually, I was browsing pictures of roller-sets and came across a few that I liked. (Peep the images I liked below) To prep for my decision to roller-set, I washed and conditioned with regular shampoo and conditioner from White Rain. Correction, I used White Rain Shampoo and then used a Dr. Miracle Deep Conditioning packet. After rinsing hair, I let it air dry. Surprise. That was my own little idea. Okay, I'm telling lies. It was an "accidental" air-dry due to the fact I was indecisive about what to do to my hair.  Now after air-drying to 90%, I sectioned off and put mousse all through my hair and started rollin...

MARCH MADNESS: DAY 5

Basically, I went off of the style I did yesterday. Braid in the front, but this time, a banana clip in the back. I oiled my scalp because it was itchy, but other than that, I did nothing at all.

MARCH MADNESS: DAY 4

On "old" hair, I created this beautiful style out of my head. Of course I was bored, so I just wanted something different. I didn't want to wear my hair out, so I opted for a bun. Now considering my features, a bun alone would not fit my face, so I decided to dress it up with "something" in the front. That "something" happened to be a loose braid down the side.   How To Do: The night before, I placed my hair into two buns. Half up, and half down. This is to create a wavy upon take-down in the morning. After take-down, I separated a good portion of the front. I pinned it down until I was complete with the back. In the back, for the bun, you gently use a wide-tooth comb so you do not make the waves created from the buns frizzy. You come to one side of your head. I used the left side to place the bun on. You wrap a scrunchie around twice and leave a few strands out to make it look like a neat "messy" bun.  Now the back is complete. ...

The Perfect NO HEAT Spiral Bantu Knot Out on Natural Hair !

Currently I am in Bantu Knots, air-drying them overnight. This is done on a day-old wash n go. I did not re-wet the hair at all. I followed the same pattern as the video below. Products I used were Motions wrapping lotion, hair gel, and a detangler.  I will be sure to take pics upon take-down tomorrow.

STYLING MY BOX BRAIDS

I'm far from style challenged. My problem is I get bored with the same styles. Usually, I find a few styles I do, do not go with my face to kindly. With strong African features, I had to find what really looked right to me. Well It has been two weeks since I got these box braids in that I did myself. As I stated, I am going to keep them in for this entire month of July. Hopefully, this will give me that extra inch closer to waist length that I need. Last length check I did was back in May. I stopped using heat in June. In box braids until August. Man, I can't wait to see what the next length check has in store for me. Surprise galore, I'm sure. Anyway, here are a few pics of styles I have work with these braids. These are after my first wash, and conditioning treatment

90 DAYS OF NO HEAT.

This year I want to have the healthiest hair possible. I'm talking about me giving up the flat iron for 60 days. I know this is going to kill me but I have to be strong. Due to the breakage and split ends that I have been experiencing, this is a must. I also think that it is due to my lack of putting in heat protectant like I normally would. There are several styles I plan on using to help me with this 60 day challenge. I found that when I wet wrap my hair with wrapping lotion and some oil, it comes out pretty straight. For the first month, I am going to use braids as a means of protective styling. That way I do not have to use heat and do not have to constantly style. Currently I am wearing my hair like the images below. I will probably just wear a bun for the next month, something like I wore the day before the New Year so I did a length check for the beginning of this challenge. Good luck for those who chose to join me. Just remember to keep those ends seale...

No-Heat Quick Hairstyle

As a natural, one of the things I can not seem to get a hold of yet is a silky wrap with NO HEAT involved. Oh my, once I get that down, I am good to go as far as getting rid of the heat. Anyway, I came close with something similar.  This style was done with no heat. I washed, conditioned and oil my scalp and ends, wrapped the hair overnight with a scarf and let it be. The next day, my wrap came out sooooo nice and soft and also straight. I had also put in a few rollers for the twirly curls. I loved this effortless hairstyle.  Give it a try.
