CHINA: LONGEST HAIR CONTEST

Now this contest in China is taking "long hair, don't care" to a whole other level. Check out the video below. Personally, I do NOT want hair that long. That is a bit too drastic for my taste; especially when the hair does not even look all that healthy. All of the women appear to need some deep conditioning, oil rinses, and a heavy trim. How about you? Would you ever let your hair grow this long?

WOW FACTOR! CELEB HAIR OF THE WEEK: AFRICA MIRANDA

Can you say GAW-JUSSS!! I mean literally, GORGEOUS hair. Africa Miranda definitely has it made with her lucky curls/kinks.  One night, I'm awake looking for something to watch when a show came on the Bravo Network. The show looked semi-interesting to me so I watched a little more hoping that it was full of black women since the show is based in Atlanta. I was in for a shock of my life, when Africa Miranda popped up on my screen with the most delicious curly fro I have ever saw. I mean the hair was so thick, so healthy, so luscious, that I almost made love to it from off the couch. Right away I went to research mode. I had to know who this beautiful woman with the even more beautiful hair was. What I found out is that Africa is more than just a reality star, she is also a singer, and a fellow hair blogger. I believe she even belonged to a site I still frequent ( LHCF ). It appears as though she takes VERY good care of her hair. I just have a few questions I would love t

BRAID-OUT RESULTS

Didn't really come out the way I would have liked. I didn't braid too tight or didn't dampen the top half enough because the braids came out very limp, I still pulled off the look, but not the desired effect I wanted. So for the rest of the week, I'm just going to take the failed braid-out and wear a high bun with a braid in the front.

BRAID OUT FOR THE WEEK

You saw the previous post, so you know I can not use heat until the fall season is over. This week, my starting hairstyle of choice will be a braid out. I did not wash my hair, I am doing my braids on old flat ironed hair from last week. To prepare my hair for the braids, I first combed through my hair. I sectioned it off into two sections - top half and bottom half. I start gathering my materials that I will use. Detangling brush Profectiv Growth Lotion Avocado Oil Oil for the scalp (Optional, I use my homemade growth mixture so that my scalp will not be dry during the night) A few scrunchies to tie the loose ends at the bottom if they do not stay braided, or you can use rollers Starting with the bottom half, I oiled my scalp and massaged it in for a few minutes. I took a good amount of PGL and ran it from the follicles to the ends of my strands. I then took the detangling brush through it to make sure no knot would be present when I take down. I then took a dime sized a

FALL CHALLENGE: THREE MONTHS FOR GROWTH

Well September 21st marked the first day of Fall. So for the remaining of the year, I will be protective styling or using low maintenance styles to make Waist Length happen for me. My hair is growing fast, but slow at the same time. I mean, I see progress but slow a the same time.  Anyway, I took starting pictures of course and will (struggle within myself) not to length check until the end of this challenge. I do get one pass, which is for my birthday in November. Other than that, twists outs, braid outs, wet wraps, banana clips, wash-n-gos, and big buns, are my only options for now. Starting pics: September 22,2013 I'm past BSL so I'm unsure of what this length is called. Hmmm...

NEW STASH FOR HAIR

As my hair continues to grow, I am trying different mixtures again. So for the next three or so months, I will be using a mix of cinnamon oil, avocado oil, prefectiv lotion and african's best hair oil, and lastly - herbal hair grease. This combination is gathered into an applicator bottle and will be used  every other day. Besides that, I am upping my scalp massages. Hopefully, I will reach full waist length by the end of this year. Yaaay to growth I do not have the time upload pics and detail my exact regi at the moment, but I promise to come back this weekend with the starting pics, ingredients, benefits of the ingredients, and advice

FUNNY HAIR RELATED STORY

I had to come and blog about this. I know this whole "black hair care" thing has been a topic for the past few years and is increasing in popularity for the whole "natural" phenomenon, but every since I had been on this "journey," there have even been men who have been complimenting my hair. Last summer, I was walking to the corner bodega when this guy out of nowhere was like "I love a black women with long flowing hair." LOL  That simple comment made me feel as if I finally graduated in the hair academy. Yaaay me! This brings me to something that happened last night. Again, I had to run out to the bodega to grab some cranberry juice. I hate going outside when my hair is not done. Those are the times I always seem to run into someone that I know, in which I have not seen in forever, ugh! So I had used some oil, and a profectiv product, then put two braids in my hair, then continued on to the store. As I am standing in line, there was two men st
