I had never tried Salmon. Never liked it. Well, that was because I never tried it. Hmm. Nonetheless, I finally gave in and had my first taste of this delicious dish about three months ago and fell in love with it. I do not know much about the fish but I do know that they are bred in fresh water, go to the ocean for a bit but return to the fresh waters to reproduce.
Salmon is known as one of the worlds healthiest foods due to it's rich content of Omega-3 and protein. I will make another post about the benefits of Salmon but this post is about Sunday Dinner. Along with the Salmon that yes I will fry ( it will not kill me to have fried food every now and then.), I am also having Haitian style rice and peas. The classic dish in every Haitian home. The peas in the rice with the hint of mushrooms offer a delightful taste to your taste buds. This will be my first time actually trying this recipe but I know it will turn out better than expected.

Salmon:
Ingredients: Atlantic Boneless Salmon Portions, Light Virgin Olive Oil, Flour, Seasonings of your choice, Jamaican Jerk Seasoning
- Always wash your fish first.
- Add Seasoning of your choice (I used Season All, Black Pepper, Garlic Powder, Crushed Red Peppers). Make sure to season both sides.
- After each piece of fish is seasoned, put into a plastic back (I just reused the bag that the fish came out of).
- Add about a tablespoon of Jamaican Jerk Seasoning. Close the bag and shake it up so that the seasoning is all over the Salmon.
- Now I changed bags for this step, you do not have to but I wanted more room to shake around the contents. So now you put the fish into a separate bag and add flour. Shake the bag until Salmon is covered.
- Heat enough oil to your liking, (I use more than I should but that is just me.).
- Once oil is heated, place your Salmon into the skillet and let it fry until both sides (of course you have to flip it) are brown and the inside is thoroughly cooked.
- Remove from the heat and drain some of that oil out by placing the Salmon onto paper-towels to cool off
Rice:
Ingredients: White Minute Rice, Mushrooms, Garlic
I followed a recipe from the internet here: Haitian Black Rice and Peas
Lastly I decided to follow up my meal with Baked Candy Yams covered in Marshmallows. Fairly simple to make. If you would like that recipe, email me.
Wondering how it turned out? Here you go. Nothing was burned, those are just marshmallows ontop of the candied yams in case you are wondering, lol Delicious.
