THANKSGIVING DAY HAIR: INSTAGRAM WAY

madison_5th One thing I love to do is search the web. I love looking at hair styles, whether they are natural, relaxed, transitioning, or texturized. So I thought it would be fun to look at different Holiday hair styles from Instagram. I hope you enjoy a few styles from fellow instagramers. If you do not see their instagram names under the picture, just click the picture and the name will appear. HEAT DAMAGE: YAY OR NAH? STAY OR GO?

I have to admit, I got a little over confident with my hair. As I stated before, the precautions I used to take with my hair, like the big major one - USING HEAT PROTECTANT.  I can not express to you how much that step before flat ironing is. Make sure you use heat protectant. For the past few months, I have not being using it. And my hair has paid the cost to look fly. See how it does not have a strong curl. The right side curls, but the left side, NO definition at all. Now, I have taking the proper care for it over the last few weeks and it seems as if they curl is reviving a little bit. But from what I hear, heat damage can not be repaired until it is cut off. Being the person that I am, I have to find out things for myself. I will try to repair the heat damage. It all else fails, then chop, chop, it goes! Wish me luck loves. The only side the curls and looks okay. In the beginning my curls were popping out. I mean so defined, and ringly that I used to finger coil

CURLY TOP: THE PERFECT WAY TO ACHIEVE THOSE LUSCIOUS CURLS

I wanted a big curly fro that would come out something like the image above. I wanted the bomb, the big, the spiral curl look that I could later put into a frohawk.  I found something that pretty much worked and I could do plenty of other styles besides a frohawk with the way the hair came out. I know you want picture results of how MY hair turned out right? Well here you go! Nice right? So you want to know the steps taken? Of course you do, and of course I love taking pics of my steps. This time I start off with freshly washed hair. I let it air dry until the water stopped slipping off the hair. When it is about 85% dry, you make sure you have all of your materials. Comb Some type of curl gel (I used curls unleashed) Shea butter I start parting into two sections. Top half and bottom half. With the top half, part with a pigtail comb a section to begin flat twisting. With the section being about two fingers in thickness, apply a thin coat of shea bu

HOUSTON BEAUTY: ANOTHER REALITY HAIR SHOW

REALITY SHOW ABOUT HAIR (AGAIN) With other shows like La Hair, here comes another one called Houston Beauty. A black reality show based in Houston with out-of-control cosmetology students. When I say drama, I mean this show is full of big egos, big hair, and big ass attitudes.  With only two episodes that are aired, I think I kind of like the show. (I'm a big reality show fan so of course I would like it, and plus it's about hair, I'm in love). Make sure to give the show a try. Check your local listings for Houston Beauty on OWN.

"I LOVE YOU BUT I HATE YOU." HAIR RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS

For the past two days, I have been struggling with my hair. Luckily for me, when I get bored, frustrated, or upset, I find SOMETHING to do to my hair. Because if not, the next step would be the scissors.  Okay, so this is how I started out.  The hair was washed the previous day and worn in a wash-n-go. I just combed out the curls and this was the result. This bush!! I was at a total loss since I was on a time limit before work, on what to do with my hair. So I left it in a ponytail while I continued to be a hair drama queen. Finally, I just started twisting, and pinned the two twists up. Here is the result. I'm happy and satisfied with the results. I think this will be one of those "when I have nothing else to do with my hair" kind of styles. Enjoy

FLAT TWIST OUT PIC-TORIAL - PERFECTION

I love, love, love my hair. Thing is, we also have one of those "love-hate" relationships. Fortunately, I found a "go-to" style during those "I hate you" periods. Flat twists can be done in various ways, either two stranded or just rolled. I prefer the two-stranded twist. Follow this tutorial to achieve the same look  Start with freshly washed hair. Clean hair makes it shine when you apply products to it later. Let it air dry to about 85 - 90%. If hair is too damp, it takes soooo long to dry. Trust me, I did it many times and always failed at the twist out.  Separate the back half from the front half.  Starting with the front, begin parting nice slices of hair. Make sure it is not too thin and not too thick.  I used curls unleashed curling jelly (purple jar). Apply a thin layer to the piece you are about to twist. make sure to distribute through that section. Begin twisting with two strands downwards towards your face. At the en
