WE ARE NOT JUST OUR HAIR...

We symbolize what beauty is. The real man/woman of the world with beautiful brown skin.  Have you seen how happy the women in Tazania seem to be? They show beauty without even having hair. As Americans (Northern), most of us symbolize beauty with having the long straight hair, blue eyes and thin body frames; often we tend to forget that beauty comes from within. Hair or no hair, you should feel comfortable within yourself.

HAIR CRUSH ALERT!!

One day, I will ROCK the curls out of this style. Soon as my hair gets big and fluffy like so, you wont be able to tell me NOTHING. I have no clue who this woman is, but if you know, please email me her name.  Thanks in advance.

RANDOM: HAIR OF THE DAY!! LOGAN BROWNING

This young woman is known for her role as Sasha of the  movie  Bratz: The Movie  and most of you recognize her from Meet the Browns TV series by Tyler Perry. This I00% African American beauty has just as gorgeous hair to accompany her lovely smile. She had once posted on her twitter that she loves her natural textures and loves wearing buns in her hair.  So here is some hair-spiration for you today!! (click to enlarge photo)

Curly Girl Method

I have been hearing about this "Curly Girl Method" for a while now and began wondering what exactly consists of this "method." Originally it came from book on how to maintain frizz-free curls and now everyone is trying this method. Well upon investigating, I found that is a method to combat frizz, enhance moisture, spot breakage/split ends, and produce growth, with beautiful, fluffy curls. (Simply put) You are no longer using shampoo to cleanse hair. Regardless of race, hair type, or any other (presumed) barriers, this method works for all hair types. Seeing the positive reviews on CGM, I was interested about what this does. Initially I thought it was to just wear your hair curly full time but found that it is more to it than that. Now I am going to give the method a trail run starting October 1st, 2012. Most likely for nine weeks. That will give me something to look forward to for my birthday. I plan on flat ironing for that occasion, but that is neither he...

Kaylin Garcia...Hair of the Day!

I recently found out about this girl through twitter. She is the girlfriend of rapper Joe Budden. Well during my "research" on Kaylin Garcia, I noticed she referred to herself as the frohawk queen. So I collectively put together a collection of the styles she uses as a protective style. I actually might do a self-challenge for the next two months with this style. (click to enlarge images)

TO WRAP HAIR OR TO NOT?

I remember as a child, I never wrapped my hair before bed. Even in my teen years and early twenties, I didn't even wrap my hair up. Now that I am on this hair journey, this question has been one of mine for the last 2 years.  During my hair journey, I can honestly say that I do try to wrap my hair up every night to protect my styles but there are those times that I either forget to do it, or traveling and forget to pack it. I noticed when I do not wrap it up, the hair is frizzy, and it requires more manipulation when attempting to "fit it up." When hair is wrapped, it is more silkier, soft, and easy to handle. What I normally do is, wrap the hair one way for the first day, then the next day, wrap it the opposite way. I try not to keep it in the same form or else thinning will occur. I wrap similar to this: So to answer the question....YES! DO WRAP YOUR HAIR TO PROTECT YOUR STYLE, KEEP HAIR SOFT AND MANAGEABLE.
